Heaven and Hell by Emanuel Swedenborg. Swedenborg was a Swedish scientist an inventor. I would compare his drawings of flying machines to the ones of Leonardo da Vinci’s . In 1741 at the age of fifty-three he entered into a spiritual phase in which he eventually began to experience dreams and visions. This culminated in a spiritual awakening, where he claimed he was appointed by the Lord to write a heavenly doctrine to reform Christianity. He claimed that the Lord had opened his eyes, so that from then on he could freely visit heaven and hell, and talk with angels, demons and other spirits. For the remaining 28 years of his life, he wrote and published 18 theological works, of which the best known was Heaven and Hell. Download it here (368 pages):

The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri is an epic poem written between 1308 and his death in 1321. The Divine Comedy is not a comedy at all, the title Commedia refers to fact that the journey starts from hell and ends with Dante’s visit to heaven and meeting with God and understanding of the mystery of reincarnation. The work is written in the first person, and tells of Dante’s journey through the three realms of the dead, lasting from the night before Good Friday to the Wednesday after Easter in the spring of 1300. The Gospel of Thomas – two different translations

Gospel of Thomas or actually: The Gospel According to Thomas was found in Egypt in 1945. The very interesting thing is that the book contains direct citations of Jesus Christ in 114 verses. The Gospel of Thomas was written in 340 in Coptic and here it is in the two most used English translations as free pdf ebooks:

Of God and His Creatures is the English translations of Summa contra Gentiles volumes I-IV written by St. Thomas Aquinas between 1258 and 1264. From the work:
