S Drower. The Haran Gawaita or Inner Haran is a Mandaean text which tells the history of the Mandaeans and their arrival in Iraq as Nasoreans from Jerusalem. According to the Haran Gawaita, John the Baptist was baptized, initiated, and educated by the patron of the doctrine of Nasirutha (“secret knowledge”), Anuš-ʼuthra, the hierophant of the sect. According to Drower, the Mandaeans were one of the earliest key Gnostic sects. Many of the original Nasoraeans became Christians and in Modern Israeli Hebrew the term Notzrim has come to simply mean Christians. It is said to be written sometime between 1924 and 1955 somewhere around Chicago. The author is unknown and there are many speculations about how it was written from sleeping mediums to plain materialization. The story itself is quite amusing, Wikipedia has an extended article about it here. The fascinating thing about the book is its precision and details about the life of Jesus and the construction of <a title="The Science of the Soul – On Consciousness and the Structure of Reality by Geoffrey D. The book describes a non-dualistic philosophy of forgiveness and includes practical lessons. Helen Schucman the book with the help of William Thetford, based on what she called an “inner voice” which she identified as Jesus. ACIM was published first in 1976 and it has been heavily criticized by Christian communities, but supported by authors such as Eckhart Tolle. From page 877:

“The world you see is based on “sacrifice” of oneness. It is a picture of complete disunity and total lack of joining. Around each entity is built a wall so seeming solid that it looks as if what is inside can never reach without, and what is out can never reach and join with what is locked away within the wall. Each part must sacrifice the other part, to keep itself complete. For if they joined each one would lose its own identity, and by their separation are their selves maintained.”

To them, it demanded a solidarity in which men and women of all backgrounds, creeds, and cultures would join hands in rejecting the spirit of the age and giving their lives instead to a new, diametrically opposed cause. To read the early Christians in their own words is to be confronted with a primal boldness and clarity that sweeps the horizon clean and forces us to take a new look at our own situation.
