The groups work was published by Oxford University Press and to this day many of the translations are the only ones existing or the most precise. It was translated into English by Reynold Nicholson (6 volumes, London, 1926). This booklet is a selection from ‘The Lives of the Gnostics’ by Aflaki, disciple of the poet’s grandson, written between 1318 and 1335. It was translated into French by C. These dreamwork systems were and are often still cloaked in secrecy and reserved for the initiate. The recorded dream experiences of traditional peoples whose cultures are still relatively intact may help expand our understanding of the possibilities of dream work and dream awareness, including the phenomena of lucidity, telepathy, and precognitive dreams. The possibility of developing awareness within the dream state and of subsequently having intensely inspiring experiences as well as the ability to control dreams is well documented. The practices outlined in this book shows how it is possible.

D. Ouspensky’s main works. From the intro:

“Books, books, books. I read, I find, I lose, I find again, again I lose. At last a certain whole becomes formed in my mind. I see the unbroken line of thought and knowledge which passes from century to century, from age to age, from country to country, from one race to another,. a line deeply hidden beneath layers of religions and philosophies which are, in fact, only distortions and perversions of the ideas belonging to the line. I see an extensive literature full of significance which was quite unknown to me until recently, but which, as now becomes quite clear to me, feeds the philosophy we know, although it is scarcely mentioned in the text-books on the history of philosophy. And I am amazed now that I did not know it before, that there are so few who have even. heard about it. Who knows, for instance, that an ordinary pack of playing-cards contains a profound and harmonious philosophical system? This is so entirely forgotten that it seems almost new. I decide to write, to tell of all I have found.”

This volume of al-Kafi, which is about seven hundred pages, is considered to be a text of an interview with a person who possesses Divine authority. It is among Shia scholars an established fact that the words of Ahl al-Bayt, Allah’ Supreme Covenant Body, are in complete harmony. An interview with any one of them would serve as an interview with all and every one of them. To have an interview of that many words as those in this volume provides one a very good chance to know the personality of the person interviewed.
