Datthathreya was the Guru of the Thretha Yuga. Bhaargava Raama, or Parashuraama, was also an Avathaara of the Thretha Yuga, the Avathaara before Sri Raamachandra. Parashuraama is a Chiranjeevi, that is he will exist till the end of this Kalpa when he will merge with the Parabrahmam. Datthathreya Himself does not have a life-span. He comes and goes as He pleases. In any form or formlessness as He pleases. Probably this Pramaana Shaasthra of Thripura Rahasya was imparted to Parashuraama in the Thretha Yuga. As for pinning the age of the Thretha Yuga in. modern calendar, there are too many scholars and studies and opinions on this. I prefer to go by our traditional scriptures and understanding that the Thretha Yuga age was 5120 years of Kali Yuga + 840000 years of Dvaapara Yuga, that is from 845120 years ago going backwards to 1260000 years ago. May sound impossible to modern perception. But not really so, if we shift our perception.
