Pressing Out Pure Honey is meant as a study companion for the Majjhima Nikāya – The Middle Length Discourses of the Buddha. The book is written by Sharda Rogell in 2002 and it was first published by Dhamma Dana Publications in 2003. About the author Sharda Rogell
Sharda Rogell began practicing meditation in 1976. She studied under the renowned meditation teacher Jack Kornfield in 1985 and subsequently started teaching vipassana meditation within the Theravadin tradition. Her teachings are distinguished by a strong focus on cultivating heartfulness and awakening the heart.
In addition to her grounding in the Theravadin tradition, Sharda Rogell’s approach to meditation and spirituality has been deeply influenced by the nondual teachings of Dzogchen from the Tibetan tradition and Advaita Vedanta. Her exposure to these philosophies was significantly enriched by her time in India, where she met and studied with H. W. L. Poonja, a prominent teacher in the Advaita Vedanta tradition.
For fifteen years, Sharda taught alongside Christopher Titmuss, a prominent figure in the international meditation community. Her dedication to spreading the teachings of meditation and mindfulness has led her to teach globally.
Sharda Rogell is also a key member of the teacher council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. Spirit Rock is a well-known center for mindfulness and meditation, where Sharda continues to contribute to the community near her home.
Moreover, Sharda is a student of A. H. Almaas in the Ridhwan School, which is known for its unique integration of spiritual and psychological work. The Ridhwan School’s teachings, often referred to as the Diamond Approach, combine insights from various spiritual traditions with modern psychological understanding.
