Amrtacandrasuris Laghutattvasphota

Amrtacandrasuris Laghutattvasphota: The Cosmic Man - A Jain representation of the universe in the shape of a man.
Amrtacandrasuris Laghutattvasphota

Amrtacandrasuris Laghutattvasphota is tenth-century poem in the stotra genre, consisting of 625 verses divided into 25 chapters each describing unique exposition of reality also called nayas which corresponds to a step on the path. According to the Jain tradition, reality has an infinite number of aspects. The world only appears to be consistent and unified within our individual viewpoints, but we are incapable of grasping the entirety of reality. But of course there is a hack..

This is not an easy read. In the form of poems Amrtacandrasuri guides the reader through concepts such as “empty-nonempty”, “eternalt-noneternal”, “being-nonbeing” etc. I highly recommend this excellent Wikipedia article about the Jain concept of reality: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jainism_and_non-creationism
