You better read and grasp OSHO (there are some 500 books with talks from this spiritual master-no-mind) instead of superficial Wikipedia on Osho. Always take things from the first hand! Don’t relay upon what other people say about Osho, including me. ;) But I am telling you: you are completely wrong. Try harder!

Bart is not wrong in 1:15. Infact ravishankar himself said that the cause of your bondage is that you are trying to quieten the mind, which in turn is meditation. Both Bart and ravishankar mean the same in their translation that when you are actually the self which is ever free from action and inaction, why do you try to force your mind to not to think(meditate) and lead it to bondage because you try and force something on your mind which is not the real you(self)
Barts translation is flawed and could mislead someone. In the verse 1:15 he writes in the second line “”The practice of meditation keeps one in bondage.” This is wrong interpretation. Please read the same verse translated by Ravishankar below. How can meditation be a bondage because in another verse Bart says in verse 1:13 “Meditate on this: I am Awareness…….etc.
Ravishakar translates 1:15 as:
You are unattached, actionless, self-effulgent and Without any blemish. The cause of your bondage is that you are trying to quieten the mind.

I agree with you. When I first read 1.15 in Bart’s translation, I too thought, “how can meditation be bondage”. Meditation is about being, just being the witnessing consciousness that we truly are. But people will endeavour to “think they are not thinking”, and this is something that comes from desire. To achieve a pure state of meditation is not bondage, it is liberation. To achieve a state of thinking we are not thinking is bondage; we remain trapped in a deceptive illusion and that deception is bondage. As you say, “Trying to quieten the mind is not the same as meditation”. One is doing, the other is being.
