Works by Martin Heidegger

Selected works by Martin Heidegger. Heidegger (1889 – 1976) was a German philosopher widely recognized as one of the most original and important philosophers of the twentieth century and at the same time one of the most controversial. He is considered as the father of existentialism and his thinking has contributed to fields as diverse as phenomenology, existentialism, hermeneutics, political theory, psychology, and theology. His criticism against traditional metaphysics and his opposition to positivism and global technological domination have been adopted by leading postmodern theorists. On the other hand, his participation in the Nazi movement sparked a stormy debate. Although he never claimed that his philosophy was related to politics, political considerations overshadowed his philosophical work.
