Ma Anandamayee was initially known as a strange village girl in what was then East Bengal (now Bangladesh), She grew up to be known as the miraculously compassionate Mata Anandamayee -Mother of Joy. Her acts of love and compassion to those around as well as away from Her have become almost a legend.
This book is partly a compilation of miraculous incidents depicting Ma Anandamayee’s compassion for her children and partly a narration of miracle-laden incidents witnessed by the author. Besides being the only one of its kind amongst other books published so far about her, this book is written by one who has known her for over three decades and who was the Managing Editor of the prestigious journal Ananda Varta which is published from Mata Anandamayee Ashram in Varanasi, India.

Who was Anandamayi Ma?
Anandamayi Ma, born Nirmala Sundari, was a renowned spiritual leader and saint from India. She was born on April 30, 1896, in Kheora, a small village in present-day Bangladesh. Anandamayi Ma is widely regarded as a highly realized soul and a divine incarnation by her followers. During her early years, Anandamayi Ma displayed a profound spiritual inclination and experienced mystical states. She attracted devotees through her spiritual radiance and teachings. She emphasized the importance of self-realization and inner transformation, promoting the unity of different religious paths.
A wandering ascetic
Anandamayi Ma led a life of simplicity and renunciation, living as a wandering ascetic for many years. She traveled extensively throughout India, attracting a large number of followers and disciples. Her teachings focused on love, devotion, and self-surrender to God. Anandamayi Ma was known for her extraordinary spiritual powers and ability to transmit profound experiences to her devotees. Many people sought her guidance and blessings, including prominent figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Indira Gandhi.
An embodiment of divine love and wisdom
She established ashrams and spiritual centers, including the Sri Anandamayi Ma Ashram in Varanasi, India, where she spent the later part of her life. Her ashrams continue to be places of pilgrimage and spiritual practice for her followers. Anandamayi Ma passed away on August 27, 1982, in Dehradun, India. Her teachings and spiritual legacy continue to inspire people worldwide, and her followers consider her an embodiment of divine love and wisdom.
