Ramayana full length PDF Ebook

Ramayana and Hanuman - ebook coverThe Ramayana is an ancient Hindu text about Rama, an incarnation of Vishnu. It tells the story of the righteous prince Rama and his rescue of his wife Sita after her abduction by the demon king Ravana. I am sorry, we do not have this in Hindi or Kannada. They might be available at archive.org.

This version of Ramayana is retold in English by C. Rajagopalachari and edited by Jay Mazo, American Gita Society. From the book:

“You cannot count on the physical proximity of someone you love all the time. A seed that sprouts at the foot of its parent tree remains stunted until it is transplanted. Rama will be in my care, and he will be quite well. But ultimately, he will leave me, too. When the time comes, every human has to depart to seek his fulfilment in his way.”

Ramyana
Ramayana is a cornerstone among the Epic works from the ancient Hindu mythology. It tells the stories of Rama and Seeta, Bharata, Lakshmana, Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Hanuman.

Summary of The Ramayana

The Ramayana is one of the two major Sanskrit epics of ancient India, the other being the Mahabharata. Here’s a summary with its main highlights:

  1. Authorship and Origin: Attributed to the sage Valmiki, the Ramayana is believed to have been written between the 4th and 2nd centuries BCE.
  2. Main Characters:
    • Rama: The prince of Ayodhya and the seventh avatar of Vishnu.
    • Sita: Rama’s wife and the incarnation of the goddess Lakshmi.
    • Lakshmana: Rama’s loyal brother.
    • Hanuman: The devoted monkey god and a staunch ally of Rama.
    • Ravana: The ten-headed demon king of Lanka who abducts Sita.
  3. Plot:
    • Exile: Rama is exiled from Ayodhya for 14 years due to palace intrigue. Sita and Lakshmana choose to join him in the forest.
    • Abduction of Sita: Ravana deceives and kidnaps Sita, taking her to his kingdom in Lanka.
    • Search for Sita: Rama and Lakshmana search for Sita, forming alliances along the way, most notably with the monkey king Sugriva and Hanuman.
    • Bridge to Lanka: With the help of the monkey army, a bridge (Rama Setu) is built across the sea to Lanka.
    • Battle of Lanka: A great battle ensues between Rama’s forces and Ravana’s army. Rama eventually kills Ravana and rescues Sita.
    • Return to Ayodhya: After the battle, Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana return to Ayodhya, where Rama is crowned king.
    • Sita’s Trial: Due to rumours about her purity, Sita undergoes a trial by fire to prove her innocence. She emerges unscathed, proving her innocence.
    • Sita’s Exile: Despite the trial, rumours persist, and Rama reluctantly sends Sita into exile. She gives birth to Rama’s twin sons, Lava and Kusha, during her removal.
    • Reunion and Ascension: Eventually, Rama reunites with his sons. After proving her purity once again, Sita asks Mother Earth to take her back, and the earth swallows her. Rama later returns to his divine form, concluding his earthly mission.
  4. Themes:
    • Dharma: The concept of duty and righteousness is a central theme.
    • Loyalty and Devotion: Exemplified by characters like Hanuman, Lakshmana, and Sita.
    • Good vs. Evil: The battle between Rama and Ravana symbolises the eternal battle between good and evil.
    • Chastity and Honor: Sita’s trials emphasise the importance of honour and purity in the epic.
  5. Influence: The Ramayana has profoundly influenced Indian culture, art, and literature. It has been retold in various languages and adapted into numerous plays, films, and television series.

This is a concise summary, and the Ramayana, in its entirety, is a rich tapestry of tales, lessons, and characters that delve deep into human emotions, values, and the concept of Dharma.

  1. If anyone wants to get real correct information on Ramayana as it REALLY happened, watch Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana. It can be found online on Youtube or maybe at a library. Please do not read this online bullshit, it will give you corrupt, wrong messages that never even happened.

  2. Wrong bullshit. One should NEVER get information on Sanatana Vedic Dharma through the bullshit internet. Animal sacrifice is against Hinduism, STRICTLY, and was never performed by King Dasharatha or the rishi munis. The rishi gave the king kheer to give to the queens and THEN they birthed the children. There was zero animal sacrifice involved. I can’t believe this trash being spewed out.

    – “Sarayu flowing into the Gangs” Ganges/Ganga
    – “This,” be said, “is the place where -> he said
    – “be came tremendously fertile.” became

    – perhaps also have a glossary or use LaTeX with the hyperref package to link terms like yakshas, devas, rakshasas, etc., to explanations or more information about certain figures.
    – them to be monsters living on the carcases -> carcasses
    – pleased without hesitation. ‘All have is at -> All I have
    – rishis, his jouniors, told the princes that -> juniors (?)
    – fire The army of Rakshasas covered the -> fire. The army

This is just one chapter, so other chapters should be carefully revised.
